How Contagious is the word “I Can” from TED.com

Common Sense is required to be Common
When I thought of writing this blog, there were several things that were running through my mind, but everything was just average and was not exciting enough to get the feel coming from inside. Then, yesterday I came across a video and not only it was exciting enough to write about it here but I am feeling a strange kind of energy from inside after watching the video.
How many of us knew that Ahmedabad is India’s First Child Friendly City? Most of us must be thinking what is the meaning of this? Well go through the blog to know more. We all know that the education system that we see all around have loop holes and is not exactly knowledge based but competition based where the vicious circle of exams, results and improvement does not leave any time and room for real grooming. The point is what are we doing knowing it, its not that we know will matter but our actions will matter, isn’t it common sense, but alas common sense is not so common. Well I found a place where effort is being put to make it common and a person who is ardently working on it. Kiran Bir Sethi is the name, I got hold of her talk at TED India in 2009 (Video) and was very much influenced by her thinking and preaching of the power of ‘i can’ which collectively becomes ‘we can’.
Kiran Bir Sethi is an NID, Ahmedabad Graduate and is the Founder Director of the one of its kind school, Riverside School, Ahmedabad. The School teaches the Children to take the charge and grow as an aware and active citizen of the country. The school does not only focus on the bookish knowledge but also teaches the children about the practical realities. The Riverside school regularly organizes a hands on session for the Children and inspires them to take charge of the society around them, now this is what I call ‘What an Idea?’
When we know ‘WE CAN’, Let’s do it! Inspire Children for the real knowledge, the real Common Sense.
